THE INTER-AGENCY
TASK FORCE ON INTERNATIONAL MERCHANDISE TRADE STATISTICS
The Task Force was created in 1992 to improve international cooperation in
the collection, processing and dissemination of international merchandise
trade statistics. It is convened by the World Trade Organization and gathers
specialists of International Merchandise Trade Statistics from Eurostat, the
Food and Agriculture Organization, the International Monetary Fund, the
Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the United Nations
Statistics Division, the UN Conference on Trade and Development, and the UN
Regional Commissions.
Its work strives to facilitate reporting by merchandise trade statistics
compilers on one hand and, on the other, to improve data quality,
timeliness, coverage and consistency amongst various international data
providers.
The Task Force meets annually.
